Hi Out Of Office Crew! 🩷

Last week has been very busyyy. Basically the same as always. Work, padel, shopping and maybe a couple dates here and there 😌😏.

Still really enjoying Thailand, however, I’ve been planning what to do after Bangkok, as I need to leave at the end of May. And I’m probably going to Taipei, Taiwan! I haven’t been there yet, so im suuuper curious to go and explore it.

I’m going to do a work exchange there. So I will teach English again in exchange for free accommodation. Such a great way to travel cheaper, get a very local experience and learn something in the mean time. Exciting!

Now, let’s check out this weeks deals..

🛂 Travel News, Visa & Entry Updates

  • If you have flights through the Gulf, check your airline immediately. KLM has suspended all flights to and from Dubai and Riyadh until June 14. Multiple other carriers are operating reduced or rerouted schedules due to the ongoing situation around the Strait of Hormuz. This is affecting a lot of connecting routes. Don't assume your flight is operating normally, so go check.

  • Thousands of travellers are stranded in the Middle East right now. The UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Kuwait have all ended their pandemic-era visa overstay grace period, but with flights heavily disrupted, many people physically cannot get out even if they want to. The US, UK, Germany and 8 other countries are pushing Gulf governments for emergency extensions. If you or anyone you know is in the region, keep a close eye on this.

  • Brussels Airport: add 3.5 hours before departure. Delta and others are flagging BRU specifically as a problem airport for the EU Entry/Exit System rollout. Security checkpoint delays are severe right now. If you're connecting through Brussels, build in serious buffer time.

  • Flying domestically in the US? REAL ID enforcement is fully in effect. You need a REAL ID-compliant driving licence or a passport to get through TSA. A standard licence from a non-compliant state won't work. Delta re-flagged this just this week, worth double-checking before your next US domestic flight.
