Hi Out Of Office Crew! 🩷

Do you want to know what i did this morning? Probably not but i will tell you anyway. I slept till 9 and then spent some time floating around the pool while reading a book, and after, I had French toast for breakfast with fresh fruit. It was amazing! Now I don’t do this every morning, bve got some more free time, so I took advantage of it!

Now if you’re thinking “i want that too!!” or “what a b*tch for making us jealous like that” lol, then you’re in the right place though!

The newsletter is getting a bit of a makeover with practical info on how to actually become a digital nomad.

So, this week I want to talk about pitching. I get this question a lot: "How do you actually find clients?" And honestly, most pitches I see are way too long.

✍️ The Cold Pitch For Landing New Clients

At the moment im focusing on getting new clients. One way I’m doing that is cold emailing. Awful i knowwww, but it’s worth it if you do it well. Here’s how I’ve been pitching my design work. I keep it very simple, like 8 sentences. Anything longer and people stop reading.

This is the structure I use:

  1. Their name and one specific thing you like about their business. Make it real, so they know you actually looked. Like their product, a recent campaign, whatever. Takes a minute; impact is big.

  2. One thing you noticed that could be better. Keep it small and friendly. And preferably based on experience.

  3. What you would do about it. One sentence.

  4. One piece of proof. A past project, a sample, a link.

  5. A small ask. "Want me to send over a quick idea?" is so much easier to say yes to than "Can we book a call?"

Here's what that looks like for a designer pitching a coliving:

Hi Marta, I love the rooftop photos on the Casa Hotel Instagram, and the dog is so cute! I noticed the booking button on your website is really hard to find on mobile. Additionally, I saw you’re currently not running any Meta ads.

I'd redesign that page so people can book in two taps. Plus, you might be interested in bringing in more guests through ads instead of relying only on organic posts. Here's one I made for another hotel: [link].

Want me to send over some ideas for the website and ads?

Swap the details for your skill. Writing, video, social media, VA work, whatever it is. The structure stays the same!

Of course, most people won't reply. It’s simply a numbers game. So send ten this week. This is a great (and free) way to get your first clients.

Do yourself a favour and screenshot this. And send it to the friend who keeps saying she wants to go freelance!

If hitting send feels scary

Phase 2 of my app, The Nomad Plan, covers this part. Building proof when you have none yet, finding clients and pitching them. You get a short coaching session every day, and my AI coach is there when you get stuck on what to write. (:

🎙️ This week’s podcast highlight

Stop Overthinking the Leap: The Honest Truth About Digital Nomad Life - By The Unclocked and Unbothered with Jenna Hera

This week not my own podcast, but an episode by Jenna Hera. We spoke about what it really takes to work remotely and travel long-term: the stress of an unstable income, how I handle travel burnout, and what it costs to live far from family and friends. It was so nice chatting with her!
